Green light for the world's largest airport with six runways and capacity for 120 million passengers

Construction is already underway on the world's largest airport , which is expected to open in 2030.  It is the King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which will have  six runways.

The project covers an area of ​​approximately 57 square kilometers, and includes the existing terminals of King Khalid International Airport. It also covers 12 square kilometers of residential and recreational facilities, retail and airport support services. 

Norman Foster's firm has won the competition to design this airport, which has been designed to obtain LEED Platinum certification. It also aims to accommodate up to 120 million passengers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050. 

The Saudi Press Agency hopes the new airport will become an "aerotropolis focused on seamless customer travel, efficient world-class operations and innovation , "
